After the massive Aaron Judge free agency settled with the New York Yankees, the next big position player free agent in MLB town was Carlos Correa. The star shortstop made his MLB debut with the Houston Astros in 2015 but opted for free agency after his Platinum Glove-winning 2021 season. He signed a whopping three-year, $105.3 million contract with the Minnesota Twins, but opted out after a year, and entered free agency.

Now, Correa’s free agency was an absolute rollercoaster. He first signed a 13-year contract worth $350 million with the Giants, but due to concerns with his ankle, and a failed physical, the Giants walked out. Then, Correa almost signed a $315 million, 12-year deal with the Mets, before they backed out too due to his physical. Finally, the 2017 World Series Champion had to budge, and went back to the Twins, signing a six-year, $200 million deal.

And now, almost five months after the free agency chaos ironed out, all the ankle and failed physical concerns proved right. But more importantly, have the Twins officially burned $200 million?

Is Carlos Correa injured again?

The shortstop has had an underwhelming start to 2023, batting only 0.213 managing 36 hits, six homers, and batting 24 runs in. But more importantly, Correa hasn’t played the last two games against the Giants (who almost signed him), and this is why:

As indicated by Minnesota Twins manager Rocco Baldelli, an MRI scan has verified the presence of a muscle strain in the arch of Carlos Correa’s left foot, along with plantar fasciitis affecting his heel. As a result, Correa could land in the IL soon.

“Perfect Line”: Minnesota Twins Star Carlos Correa’s Cold Response to New York Yankees Hostility Puts the MLB World on Notice

When asked about it, Baldelli said, “I think we get to Friday and some of our decisions might be made for us.”

Some fans made sure to point out that the Giants and Mets made the right decision, while a few others sympathized with the two-time All-Star, who could possibly miss a giant portion of the season. And the timing couldn’t be worse for the Twins, as they stand comfortably on the top of AL Central, with 26 wins and 24 losses.
