Many MLB teams have made big moves this off-season, signing superstars to compete for the World Series in 2023. The San Francisco Giants didn’t sign any big names, but it was not because of a lack of trying. Their organization made offers to Aaron Judge and Carlos Correa, almost getting a deal done with the latter. But unfortunately, they were unable to do so.

This meant that their pursuit of a true star failed. Their organization brought in a number of high-level players, but not stars. One of their new additions recently commented on the off-season and even lauded the team.

San Francisco Giants’ new addition Michael Conforto lauds the organization for their off-season effort

This off-season has been a disappointing one for the San Francisco Giants. They failed to lure Aaron Judge to the organization and backed away from the Carlos Correa deal. It left them with no star signing to show for their effort. But Michael Conforto, one of the Giants’ new acquisitions, lauded the teams’ off-season. According to the New York Times, he said the organization was showing a commitment to spending big money. Conforto was also pleased that the ownership is committed to improving the team and aiming to win.

According to the New York Times, Conforto said, “Now that I’m a part of the organization, I look at the off-season that we had and there’s a huge commitment to winning here”. He also said, “They were fully committed to bringing in a superstar and willing to pay the money. I look at that as a positive thing.”

It is a great way to look at the off-season as the 2023 regular season nears. The Giants are coming off a disappointing 2022 season during which they only won 81 games. In 2023, they will be looking to improve and make a run for the postseason.

The Giants will aim to find their 2021 form again

The 2022 season was a massive disappointment for the San Francisco Giants. They finished the season with 81 wins and were out of the postseason. This was a stark change from the 107-win season they had in 2021. In 2023, they will be aiming for the postseason and will need a bit of their 2021 form to do so.
