It has been a night of victories for the Atlanta Braves. The team just defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 11-4 in a brilliant display. Not only that but right after the game, team manager Brian Snitker announced the much-anticipated return of a young player. Michael Soroka is coming back to Major League Baseball.

After an awful injury that tore his Achilles tendon during a game on Aug. 3, 2020, Soroka was escorted off the field because he was unable to do so himself. After surgery and rehab, Soroka was getting ready for a comeback when he tore his tendon again while simply walking to the clubhouse in 2021. Another surgery and more rehab led him to miss the last few seasons. But now, the young star is coming back.

Michael Soroka is coming back to MLB after almost 34 months
Three years is a long time for an athlete, especially when they’re away from their sport at a prime age. No one sees injuries coming but how one deals with them is what’s important. Michael Soroka’s tough but positive attitude has led him this far. A talented pitcher, fans were distraught at seeing him limp off the mound that day. It was even harder when his return got delayed. For fans, the expression ‘been through hell and back’ holds true for Soroka.
Nearly 34 months since he last pitched in a major league game and sustained the first of two ruptures of his right Achilles, which required three surgeries and countless hours of rehab, Michael Soroka is set to start for the #Braves on Monday at Oakland. https://t.co/nJGBUDRNRD

Soroka’s teammates are more than excited to see him back too. Utility player Charlie Culberson told The Athletic, “He’s been through heck, but he’s one guy that can get through it and keep going.” Even Snitker praised his upbeat attitude, “What he went through the past couple years, that will really test you…I’ve got a lot of respect for how he went about it. It’s going to be cool. I’m excited about getting him back out there.”
