The second time was when he was banned for the entire 2014 season for having used PEDs during his Rangers days. Rodriguez once opened up on how PED’s impacted his life and what it cost him.

PEDs cost Alex Rodriguez more than just his reputation

Alex Rodriguez is undoubtedly one of the greatest baseball players of all time. He was a superstar, both with his batting and his fielding. But PEDs derailed the latter half of his career and left a sour taste in fans’ mouths. Rodriguez once opened up on the impact that PED’s had on his career. He stated that it cost him a lot more than just his reputation. The former Yankee legend said it cost him more than $40 million in salary, as he was banned for the 2014 season. Furthermore, he also mentioned that it might’ve cost him his chance at the Hall Of Fame.

According to ESPN, he said, “There’s so many frustrating things when you look back at that. Number one, you have a guaranteed contract for hundreds of millions of dollars. Literally, you can sit on the couch and get fat. Right? How stupid can you be? … This thing cost me over $40 million. And it cost me my reputation, and it may have cost me the Hall of Fame and a number of other things.”
