It’s gotten bad enough in Colorado that the blame game has officially kicked off, taking over the internet. Kyle Freeland, the Rockies’ veteran pitcher, recently pleaded with the MLB fans – “keep believing in us”, he said after a recent bad outing against the Detroit Tigers. One mind-blowing stats later, even the loyal believers have had enough. Was it Bud Black all along? Well, at least the fans believe so.

Now, just so you know, since the 1988 Orioles, it’s the worst 39-game start any team has encountered. It stings, sure, but for these back-to-back failures, the Rockies’ players alone can’t be blamed. All collectively pointed at the real culprit – Bud Black. The one who is the Rockies’ longest-tenured manager.

He was relieved from his managerial duties after the Rockies defeated the San Diego Padres by 9-3. However, they have the worst record in recent MLB history, sitting at 7-34.

Further, a viral post on X shared the Rockies’ starting pitching staff’s stats.

Starting off with Rockies’ catcher Jacob Stallings. He has the lowest ERA, sitting at 4.50 as of May 13th. Well, at least it’s better than the Rockies’ other starters: Ryan Feltner (4.75), Antonio Senzatela (5.77), Kyle Freeland (6.41), Chase Dollander (7.71), and Germán Márquez (8.27).

Embarrassing? That would be an understatement. It’s fair to say that the Rockies are imploding right now. Stalling acknowledged the situation and said, “We’ve been going through it as a team, and it’s not any fun,” Stallings said. “We’ve been talking about it as a group, trying to have more fun. Obviously, it’s not easy when you’re down that much.” Down? Even some strategic moves cannot pull the Rockies up at this point.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Bud Black really to blame, or are the Rockies' problems deeper than just management?

Have an interesting take?

After firing Bud Black, Warren Schaeffer was recalled to take over as an interim manager. And guess what? nobody questioned this decision. After all, The ones following their game since the beginning of the season have already labeled the Rockies’ former manager, Bud Black, as the real culprit.

The Rockies’ rock bottom sparks sarcasm, outrage, disappointment – all at once

The Rockies have had one of the most horrible starts in the recent history of Major League Baseball. They have reportedly allowed 258 runs and have been outscored by 134 – if it’s not rock bottom, what is it? While the Rockies’ ownership failed to improve the dynamics of the team, the Rockies’ nation didn’t hold back to raise their frustration.

When Bud Black was dismissed from his managerial duties, the fans labeled him as the scapegoat for not solving the roster’s systemic issues. “Why Bud Black was the fall guy” See, the pitching staff’s stats were dangerously embarrassing. It’s hard to believe that the Rockies aren’t doing much to get out of this slump. Right now, after firing manager Bud Black, the team has lost yet another game to the Texas Rangers by 2-1. The team has lost games back to back and nothing possibly can turn things around now.

A player who was at his prime 4 years ago is now in an embarrassing viral post: “Germán Márquez was an all-star four years ago😭😭.” Yes, the same Márquez who now holds the worst ERA of the team (8.27). It’s not that he dropped from his actual talent; it’s the fact that the entire Rockies’ rotation currently stings.

After a harsh 21-0 blowout from the San Diego Padres, the Rockies immediately decided their next move was to fire Bud Black. It made all the sense to the fans: “Yeah, Bud Black was the problem🙄.” A manager’s impact on the team is significant to the extent that a team cannot possibly lose consecutive games showing no improvement.

Except for the 2023 Oakland Athletics, the Rockies have the worst run differential since 1900. It leads to fans in a state of disbelief: “This can’t be real.” The MLB fans would like to believe that their 7-34 record is a glitch. However, it’s not and it is really the worst any MLB team has been in recent history.

The ones who have been keeping tabs for a long time now know it better than anybody else: “Another Cherington fumble.” Wow, one straight shot at Pirates General Manager Ben Cherington, who traded Jacob Stallings to the Miami Marlins. And later he signed with the Rockies as a free agent. Now, his stats say it all. It’s certainly sad how he’s leading the Rockies’ starting pitchers in ERA.

The fans have simply lost their hopes for any comeback from the Rockies. It’s not that it’s just the on-field struggles; it’s the ownership as a whole that is the real problem. Do you think there is any chance of return from this rock bottom under interim manager Warren Schaeffer’s guidance?
