The best-laid plans of mice and men…and Yankees, often go awry. In the Bronx, the foundation is cracking. And at the center, a once-invincible giant, Giancarlo Stanton, now battles against time and his own body.

Watch What’s Trending Now!

His 2024 season ended early when he suffered a Grade 2 quad strain, and he’s struggled through spring training 2025 with chronic tendinitis in both elbows.

While the Sword of Damocles was already hanging upon their head, insider BT’s post offered a dire forecast: The possibility that Giancarlo Stanton might miss most, if not all, of the 2025 season. As if the team didn’t have enough problems! Now, one of their biggest power hitters might be out for a long time.

Stanton has been hindered by a litany of injuries, keeping him out for 40 percent of the regular-season games since his arrival in pinstripes in 2018.

The numbers are alarming! And so is his health. Since 2020, his average has dropped to only 98 games a season because of persistent hamstring, calf, and quad injuries.

His 2023 season was a drop-off, as he hit a paltry .191 batting average with only 24 home runs. And now, with new health conecrns, the chances that he will play in 2025 are dwindling. GM Brian Cashman has been frank about the situation, saying, “Giancarlo’s health has been a significant challenge for us. When he’s on the field, he’s a game-changer, but keeping him healthy has been an uphill battle.”

The Stanton void: Yankees’ offense faces major challenge

What’s even more unfortunate is that you won’t be able to blame anyone. Because how does one calculate the resilience of an athlete? Despite suffering that much injury last season, he patched together a .233 batting average and 27 homers. He made his mark in the playoffs, hitting .273 with seven homers and 16 RBIs, and leading the Yanks to the World Series for the first time since 2009.

The difference between Stanton’s being there and not? Just take the Yankees’ 2024 season win percentage: .580 with him in the lineup and .490 without him. The team averaged 5.2 runs per game with him, and only 4.3 runs in his absence.

Yes, Giancarlo Stanton’s production will be hard to replace. But the Yankees must move on.

They are replacing their designated hitter with Cody Bellinger, who once appeared to be the next big thing but managed only a .210 batting average and 19 home runs in 2024.

But the injury bug is not just with Stanton. Jake Cousins is out with a right forearm strain, and Jonathan Loaisiga, recovering from UCL surgery, won’t be back until late May or June. Starting pitcher Clarke Schmidt is suffering from back sore, but should be ready for Opening Day. Outfielder Trent Grisham is recovering from a hamstring strain but is expected to miss only one or two games.

Definitely, these worsen the problem, as the team needs dependable stand-ins to keep it competitive. But the question remains: Can they weather this storm, or will this be the year the Bronx truly crumbles?
