MLB Issues Heartwarming League-Wide Mandate to Honor Legendary Broadcaster and ‘Heartbeat of the Dodgers’ Vin Scully as Tributes Continue to Pour In

Vin Scully, the golden voice of the Dodgers, has fallen silent. Scully’s death was heartfelt news for his Dodgers family and the entire MLB community. Many great athletes, including the likes of Clayton Kershaw and Kirk Gibson, among others, mourned Scully’s death. 

Vin Scully was an iconic American sports broadcaster who primarily covered the Los Angeles Dodgers games. Scully even moved to Brooklyn with the Dodgers until relocation in 1958. In addition, Scully also nationally broadcasted NFL games and PGA tour events for the CBS Sports Network from 1975 to 1982.

Born in 1927, Vin Scully passed away on August 2nd, 2022. He famously commentated on a majestic 67 MLB seasons for the Dodgers. Scully began his duties in 1950, carrying on until retirement in 2016. 

Vin Scully: A beloved figure in the world of American Sports 

Tributes for the late Vin Scully followed all day long on Wednesday. Moments of remembrance for Scully took place before every MLB game played throughout Wednesday’s schedule. According to a report by TMZ Sports, the MLB administration asked all the teams to observe league-wide moments of silence for Scully.

The Dodgers fans created a makeshift Vin Scully memorial site at the Dodger Stadium. As per a report by CBS, the Dodgers administration paid tribute to Scully saying, “He was the voice of the Dodgers, and so much more. He was their conscience, their poet laureate, capturing their beauty and chronicling their glory from Jackie Robinson to Sandy Koufax, Kirk Gibson to Clayton Kershaw. Vin Scully was the heartbeat of the Dodgers and, in so many ways, the heartbeat of all of Los Angeles.”  

As the news of Vin Scully’s death broke out on Tuesday, many star players like Clayton Kershaw and Kirk Gibson paid tributes on their social media accounts. 

Clayton Kershaw paid tribute to Scully, writing “The best there ever was. When you think of the history of the Dodgers, you think of Vin. An incredible man with an incredible legacy and I’m so thankful to have known him as well as I did.”

Meanwhile, Kirk Gibson, in his words of tribute, wrote “My 2nd favorited Vin quote ‘in case you’re wondering….Will Clarke is due up………….7th…….this inning’ Rip Vin….the best.”

All proof of the love and respect the entire American sports community had for Vin Scully.

Vin Scully: Gone but not forgotten 

The late Vin Scully is regarded as one of the greatest broadcasters. He left his presence beyond just the Dodgers and MLB circuit. Scully departed from the mortal realm as one of the most iconic broadcasters in the entire American sports society.
