St. Louis Cardinals led the Grapefruit League with a winning percentage of .708 (17-7). In second position was the Atlanta Braves with a .643 (18-10). The Baltimore Orioles and the Philadelphia Phillies were 4th and 8th respectively. So how was their regular season? The Cards finished last in NL Central with 71 wins, the Braves had a league-high 104 wins, the Orioles had 101 and the Phillies played the NLCS.

Similarly, the LA Angels led the Cactus League with an 18-11 record. The Texas Rangers were 10th and actually had a losing record of 13-15. Imagine the surprise that in the regular season, the Angels were limited to just 73 wins, and the Rangers ended up winning the World Series! While the Pinstripes improved a little in the regular season, the Mets fully succumbed to the symptoms.
