Well, being an MLB umpire is no easy gig. Pitchers are throwing harder than ever, with nastier movement, and the strike zone is under a microscope every night. Still, some calls should be absolute layups, no excuses. Remember that Orioles-Blue Jays game back in July? Umpire Brian Walsh completely whiffed on one of the easiest calls you’ll ever see. If you remember, in the fourth inning, Zach Eflin threw a sinker right down the middle on a 1-0 count. And somehow, Walsh called it a ball.

And now Walsh is back in the spotlight again, and this time the blunder is even bigger. Of course, when the Yankees are involved, everything gets amplified, more headlines, more debates, more controversy. Yes, missed calls from umpires have almost become routine in MLB, but this situation took a different turn.
An old photo of Brian Walsh has resurfaced, sparking a whole new narrative and giving fans even more fuel to go after him.

What does that mean?
The viral image shows Walsh is having a good time donning a Red Sox jersey. And thus it can be concluded that he is a die-hard Red Sox fan. If you know, that’s enough for the Yankees fans to assume what’s gone wrong against them in the game with the Astros. We are all aware of the Red Sox-Yankees rivalry, and if Mustache is true, then, being a Red Sox fan, Walsh’s decisions have gone against the Bombers.

Well, some of the calls in the Yankees-Astros game were surely ugly. For example, Devin Williams’ few borderline pitches went against him during his three walks, two to Sanchez and one to Trammell. As he came off the mound, he let his frustration boil over at home plate umpire Walsh, which got him tossed. Aaron Boone didn’t last much longer either. On his way back to the dugout, he gave Walsh an earful and got ejected, too.
But the fans are too hard to let go so fast…
The umpire gets called out by the Yankees fans
So, Brian Walsh being a Red Sox fan is the reason why his decisions majorly went against the Yankees? A few fans believe the same. “No surprise he’s a Red Sox fan,” one fan said. “Wow, these guys are always Boston sports fans. Ever heard of Eric Lewis?” added another. So yes, in MLB, being a Yankees fan will surely make you a Boston hater and vice versa. But is the same theory applicable here? Let’s get back to that Orioles-Blue Jays game in July. Reportedly, Walsh missed 12 pitches on that night. So, we think it’s more about the overall umpiring quality in MLB than being intentional. “It all makes sense now, what a f****n loser POS Umpire,” another user highlighted the same frustration.

Ahh, there are umpiring controversies in MLB, and no talk about the robot umpire? That’s simply not possible. And here it is, one fan shared, “Where is the robot?” “Bro was calling strikes from another zip code,” another added. Well, the calls for a robot umpire are on the rise. And with such human errors, the MLB commissioner shouldn’t have any issues implementing the same. Until now, it is planned to be implemented in MLB from next year, and we hope that it will end the fear of bias against the Yankees or any teams.
Nevertheless, the Yankees lost the game by 7-8, and with the series tied, all eyes will be on the finale to see who comes out the winner.
