Mike Trout says that Derek Jeter has inspired his desire to only pay for one team

During a recent interview with Ken Rosenthal, Mike Trout opened up on a variety of topics. One such topic was his continued loyalty to the Angels despite a lack of team success. Trout said that Derek Jeter is his idol and that he played his entire career with the New York Yankees. This has inspired the Angels franchise star. Furthermore, Trout revealed that he wants to play some winning baseball and give that joy to the fans. FOX Sports: MLB shared a clip of the interview on Twitter.

While talking about playing with the Angels his entire career, Trout said, “My role model growing up was Derek Jeter, and he did the same thing. But you got to win, you get frustrated when you lose. The organization, the fans, they want to bring some winning baseball to Anaheim.”

During the interview, he also talked about his aspirations with the team for the ongoing season. The Angels are currently on a 3-game winning streak. They currently own a 14-12 win-loss record and are sitting third in a tightly contested AL West division. But the team’s future is in doubt with one big question looming.

Will Shohei Ohtani stay with the Angels in free agency?

Although the Angels are in a good position at the moment, a lot can change between now and the season’s end. The minimum requirement for Ohtani to stay is a postseason appearance and the potential to win a title soon. But if they do not remain competitive, Ohtani is most likely going to leave in free agency. This will leave Mike Trout and the Angels in a difficult situation.
