Though it could not save him from the life-altering disease, it helped him overcome the difficult time successfully. Despite his thorough care of his health, an alarming disease changed his life. The shock was sudden, but A-Rod took it in a positive manner. While, generally, people ignore such situations, A-Rod took his situation to start an awareness campaign.

In June 2023, the MLB icon shared that during a regular check-up, he was diagnosed with gum disease. Given that the gum disease is common and not life-threatening, people mostly ignore it. But A-Rod is not among them. He immediately started reaching out to his followers to inform them of the symptoms and cure. In June this year, Alex was chosen to serve as the brand’s ambassador to promote their gum care antibiotic, Arestin. Once this news came to light, the GM of the company said they want the ex-Yankee to “share his experience not only to help educate patients about this often misunderstood and underdiagnosed disease but also to encourage them to talk to their dentist.”

The campaign comes with a dedicated website of Arestin. The site features A-Rod, who shares information about the symptoms and cure of gum disease and directly addresses the drug. However, that’s not the only thing Rodriguez suffered through. Back in 2022, A-Rod had another health issue that bothered him for long.

Growing up in a family where sports was a topic of daily discussion, baseball drew my interest the most. I admired the post-retirement journey of Alex Rodriguez and the rise of Shohei Ohtani and Elly De La Cruz to stardom in the current baseball generation. Forever enamored by Bryce Harper and the way his career is progressing, I love covering most East Coast teams. When not writing, you can always find me at the library, buried between the pages of a book. “There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so,” from Shakespeare’s Hamlet is a favorite for me. When not surrounded by words, I’m usually in the battlefields of COD and Fortnite!
