Sportspersons are often multi-talented and leave commoners in the dust. MLB star Mookie Betts has a well-documented career in baseball that has left people impressed. At 30 years old, Betts has been a key part of leading two teams to World Series wins, the Boston Red Sox in 2018 and LA Dodgers in 2020. Even though the outfielder has a good amount of time left with the MLB, many already think he has had a Hall of Fame-worthy career.

But his other love, bowling, is another sport he’s equally terrific at. After learning to play at a young age because of his mother’s avid bowling, Betts has proven himself adept too. He has even participated in the Professional Bowling Association’s World Series of Bowling twice. And now he’s holding his own against the world’s finest.

Jason Belmonte is currently the number-one bowler in the world. With twenty-nine PBA tour titles and seven-time PBA Player of the Year, Belmonte is a force to be reckoned with. However, at the ongoing PBA U.S. Open championship, Betts stood toe-to-toe with Belmonte. The 2018 AL-MVP and the 2020 ‘super slam’ U.S. Open winner tied for scores.

Brian Murphy of MLB.com wrote, “The two-time World Series champ was tied for 19th among his 36-member squad — the bowlers are grouped into one of three squads during the qualifying rounds — and tied for 61st overall.”
