Before the Los Angeles Dodgers could take on the Oakland Athletics, it was mini-Betts, donning his dad’s name across his back, turning Dodger Stadium into a puddle of collective awe.

We all know how Betts’ start to the season was far from ideal, but the Dodgers-Athletics matchup night was his moment to shine. After all, it’s his Bobblehead night! So, naturally, his wife, Brianna, and the kids wouldn’t have missed it for the world. In fact, the ceremonial first pitch tradition was led by Betts’s little one, Kaj Lynn Betts.

Well, that’s not even the most adorable part. It’s something else that had everyone cracking up, given the irony.

When it was Mini Betts’s turn to throw out the ceremonial pitch, his tiny little feet ran towards the right field instead of the pitching mound. Well, would you call it a coincidence that this toddler knows his dad’s most prominent position? After all, it’s for the right field that Betts earned six Gold Glove awards. And now that he’s a shortstop, it had everyone wide-eyed that this two-year-old’s unintentional instincts could be so accurate.

Now, it’s fair to say that Kaj is arguably Betts’ mini version, who knows his dad’s unsaid insights. The clip instantly took over the internet and had everyone go awe. Plus, Betts and Brianna were visibly stunned by their son’s instincts. After he ran to the right field, Brianna ran, grabbed him, and took him for his ceremonial pitch throw. All smiles…

While Kaj had his moment, Betts’ daughter Kynlee was cutely umpiring behind him. And now, Dodgerland isn’t getting over Kaj and Kynlee’s adorable appearance anytime soon.

While the scoreboard didn’t really swing in the Dodgers’ favor with an 11-1 defeat by the Athletics, the Dodgers’ nation will be holding onto this adorable moment for a significant amount of time.

“Someone to play for”: Betts embraces his fatherhood

Not the gold glove awards, not the All-Star game appearances—it’s his role as a father that really lifts his spirits. It’ll stay with Betts for a long time – the moment when Kaj threw the ceremonial pitch at the Dodger Stadium for his bobblehead night.

Brianna and Betts have been embracing parenthood since November 2018, when they welcomed their firstborn daughter, Kynlee Ivory Betts. Betts’ little angel, Kynlee, has made multiple appearances at his games time and again.

Back in 2022, Kynlee made an appearance for her first ceremonial pitch throw for Betts’ bobblehead night. In fact, the little one made a surprise appearance for her dad at the Kids Take the Field event. She got a baseball signed by Betts. Yes, from her very own father.

Then, in April 2023, the couple welcomed their second-born, son Kaj Lynn Betts.

Well, for Betts, fatherhood has brought a significant change. Especially being a “girl dad” has made him more mindful in all aspects of his life.

In a podcast, he reportedly admitted the kind of dad he would like to be for Kynlee. “It’s my job to set an example of the relationship I want her to have,” he shared, expressing that Kynlee makes him a better husband to Brianna as well. He admitted that being a father has had a huge role in his career. “It was a little bit easier to go to work and know that you have something to play for.”
