Rodriguez briefly spoke about the most strenuous challenge of his career at FTI Consulting’s annual summit. “I had just won the MVP, I was just named captain for the Rangers. It was kind of a weird thing. And then I moved to third base. It was more challenging than I thought. I had known shortstop ever since I was ten years old. I had great mentors to help me there,” he said.

Things weren’t working out with the Rangers, and before he could play his first season as the team’s captain, he got the chance to play in the New York Yankees. But there was already a shortstop, Derek Jeter. Therefore, he had to switch positions. It was indeed an arduous task, but he did it well enough to win two more AL MVPs in his career.
