Derek Jeter has been an inspirational figure in American sports. And given his immense contribution to sports, he will remain to be so. But things go out of hand when fans start comparing one player to another. And in Jeter’s case, baseball fans have started comparing his legacy to the NBA icon Michael Jordan.
Notably, Michael Jordan holds a special place in everyone’s heart. Even if someone does not watch NBA games, they love Jordan for his contribution to the game. Leave the fans. Derek Jeter himself considers Jordan an idol. So comparing Jeter to Jordan makes little sense.

Recently, after the release of Jeter’s docuseries ‘The Captain,’ many fans are also complaining that the former Yankee is over-rated. And American sports analyst Colin Cowherd AKA The Herd also has his say on the same topic. Cowherd said that the two are way different from each other.
Is it fair to compare Derek Jeter to Michael Jordan?
Colin Cowherd has come up with another epic rant following the Jeter-Jordan comparison. The ace analyst said that it is not fair to compare Derek Jeter to Michael Jordan. Even though Jeter is a renowned figure in American sports, Jordan is beyond comparison to any athlete.

“When the doc came on last night, people already saying he is over-rated. ‘Oh, it’s not the Michael Jordan,’ can we stop? First of all, Michael Jordan is different. In American sports, we have stars Jeter, superstars Peyton Manning and then we have Jordan. He is from a different galaxy. You can’t compare him to anything. Derek Jeter had a Gatorade commercial. Michael Jordan! They built a whole company around him…,” said Colin Cowherd on his YouTube channel.

Cowherd also expressed that almost every human being loved and supported Michael Jordan’s team in the NBA. But that is not the case for Derek Jeter. Because if not in New York, almost every baseball fans dislike the Yankees.
“He is the greatest basketball player ever. At one point, we all rooted for Michael Jordan’s team. Derek Jeter was a Yankee. 90 percent of baseball fans—not in New York—hate the Yankees. You can’t compare MJ to any baseball player,” added Cowherd.
