

The Brittney Griner saga is finally coming to an end. After months of negotiations with the Russian government, the WNBA star is finally returning home. After being detained in the foreign country for around 294 days for allegedly carrying a banned substance in her luggage.
And now, when she is returning home, the entire country is celebrating Griner’s homecoming. MLB icon Derek Jeter’s sister Sharlee Jeter also joined millions of people to welcome the WNBA star’s return to the USA.

On December 8, US officials confirmed Griner’s release in a prison exchange for the Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout. Both countries were working on a one-on-one swap, and POTUS Biden shared the news of the exchange successfully happening in the United Arab Emirates. The president personally shared the news, and now the entire country is waiting to welcome her.?
Sharlee Jeter is one of the people to support Brittney Griner!
New York Yankees legend Derek Jeter‘s sister, Sharlee Jeter, has always been an avid supporter of helping people reach their full potential. Sharlee did her part by sharing the news of her finally coming home.
Jeter put up a story on her Instagram profile, which has a picture of the seven times All-Star, Brittney Griner. The caption said, “Brittney Griner is headed home.”

Taking to Twitter, President Biden informed first the well-being of Griner and then shared the news with the entire country that she was already on the plane. And she would be home any moment now. Her wife, Cherelle Griner, has done everything possible to bring Brittney home.
Russians were not letting Griner off the hook easily!
Griner had gotten detained on February 17. While traveling to Russia, the customs officials found cartridges of hashish oil in her luggage. Her trial had begun five months later in July. The US officials were trying to negotiate with the Russian government since June, but there was not any positive response until the release finally happened almost another six months later.

In her time in Russia’s prison, Griner was terrified that she would be staying there for almost nine years. However, situations are not the same anymore, as the US officials successfully brought back their star athlete home.
