Derek Jeter was one of the few players who could attract scores of people whenever he was on the team for the Yankees. This was due to his incredible performances as a player and his commanding presence, both on and off the ballpark. However, Jeter’s fanbase also includes other well-known sports personalities as well, and ‘The Captain’ once confirmed this. He mentioned how one of the best basketball players of all time was a Yankees fan.

Derek Jeter once confirmed that LeBron James was a Yankees fan

In an article that Jeter wrote for Time Magazine in 2013, he confirmed that LeBron James is a New York Yankees fan. He also said that as a player who has been in Cleveland and Miami, it must’ve been tough for him to support the Yankees. Jeter wrote, I’ve had the chance to meet LeBron James, and I know he’s a Yankees fan. I also know it must be tough to root for the Yankees while living in Miami and Cleveland.”

Jeter is not wrong, as James has been called out multiple times for wearing a Yankees hat. Furthermore, since both Miami and Cleveland have MLB teams of their own, the LA Lakers star would have faced some flak for supporting the Yankees.

Further on in the article, Jeter complemented the NBA legend saying, “LeBron never takes a play off. His all-out effort is what stands out when you watch him. Whether his team is up 20 or down 20, LeBron is playing like it’s Game 7 of the NBA Finals.” But if given the choice between LeBron James or Michael Jordan, Jeter is sure to pick MJ. Michael Jordan has played a huge part in Jeter’s career and the Yankee legend considers him a big brother.
