Alex Rodriguez, driven by his love for the business industry, has consistently expressed his desire to own a team. In 2021, five years after retiring from baseball, this aspiration became a reality as he submitted a bid for the New York Mets. Unfortunately, Steve Cohen’s bid was successful. And ultimately, A-Rod and fellow billionaire Marc Lore went on to acquire the Minnesota Timberwolves and its WNBA franchise instead.
Since A-Rod took over in 2021, the Timberwolves managed to make it to the Opening Round of the NBA for only the second time in two decades. This year, despite a slow start, the ex-Yankees slugger’s Timberwolves have slowly started climbing up the Western Conference ladder.
