Brandon Nimmo isn’t done just yet—not even close. The New York Mets’ $162 million man is still out there grinding it out and coming through for the team. Case in point was Sunday’s 6-2 win over the Chicago Cubs. He went 2-for-3, got on base three times, and launched a two-run homer that gave New York some breathing room.

It is one of those classic Nimmo performances. Even though his overall numbers this season are not setting the world on fire, he is still doing okay, slashing. 224/.288/.429.

But whilst he is doing great on the field, fans can’t help but wonder one big question- what comes after this?

There is one thing that keeps popping up when Nimmo comes, and it’s the broadcast booth. Fans keep saying it, and during the recent podcast appearance, he addressed the question. Brandon Nimmo didn’t mince words, saying, “It’s something I’ve thought about. I wouldn’t be opposed to it after I’m done.” He explained how much he loves the idea of pulling back the curtain on big league baseball.

Brandon Nimmo feels that he can break down the sport in a way that people understand, and that gives fans that insider feel. “Definitely something I would be open to, because I enjoy the game so much and it’s given me so much. But gosh, it’s just fun to see everything that goes behind what happens out there. Because it’s more than just “see ball, hit ball,” and you know, just kind of get a lead and hopefully take off. There’s so much going on behind the scenes, and I love for people to be opened up to that.

However, while the retirement plan is in place, it’s not a plan for now. Presently, Nimmo is not jumping out of his seat and is only concerned about winning the World Series for the New York Mets. The Mets star also said that right now, etching his name in the Mets’ history is the focus. A ring, a banner, and a legacy are what he is looking for, and maybe the next chapter can begin. And looking at how the Mets are going, this year they might make this dream possible.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Brandon Nimmo the unsung hero the Mets need, or is his future in the broadcast booth?

Pete Alonso’s journey with the New York Mets went from doubts to dominance

Brandon Nimmo might be dreaming of that booth, but right now, the Mets have more immediate storylines to unpack—Pete Alonso is at the center of it. It is no secret that the off-season was heated for Alonso. Steve Cohen claimed that even Juan Soto’s off-season, which included a $765 million deal, was easier than Alonso’s. At one point, it looked like he had one foot out the door. But oh, what a mistake that would have been.

The Mets finally struck a two-year, $54 million deal with Pete Alonso. A far cry from what he wanted, but after a personal talk with Cohen, he decided to come back—and how. He is having a comeback, or actually, he has reinvented himself, and he is a legit MVP contender now. Last month, he was very much outpacing Juan Soto in key stats. Now he is hitting. 320 with nine homers, 34 RBIs, and a 1.047 OPS.

And even though rumors did suggest that Alonso is sad simply because the Mets didn’t seem to care much to keep him for more, the reality is different. Recently, he addressed his stance on Mets dynamics, saying, “Why would I be angry?” he told USA Today. “This organization has believed in me since I was 21… they didn’t trade me. That means—I think—that they like me.”

For Alonso, it’s not about the money; it’s about the culture, the fans, and the chemistry, and it’s the reason he came for. One thing is for sure, though: right now, the market has changed after Vladimir Guerrero’s deal. So maybe, just maybe, he gets the prize; he quotes the next free agency.
