Max Scherzer, a star pitcher of the New York Mets, is making good use of his eye-popping salary. The 38-year-old is a true gem in Major League Baseball, given his talents as well as his list of accomplishments. Thrice winner of the Cy Young Award, a World Series champ, and an eight-time MLB All-Star, Scherzer has achieved legend status. Teams certainly recognize his talent and have offered him lucrative contracts in exchange for his services on the field.

In fact, the pitcher’s 2010 contract with the Washington Nationals was one of the biggest contracts of the time. Valued at $210 million for seven years, it was one of the largest in American sports history. Fast forward to 2023 and the 38-year-old has set the record for the highest average annual value baseball contract ever. And according to recent reports, he’s spending his $43 million earnings per season.

Back in March, it was reported that longtime newspaper publisher Robert Smylie had listed his 0.7-acre Jupiter, Florida house for sale. Scherzer was apparently in talks to buy the property whose owner’s asking price was $18 million. Smylie had originally purchased the house in 1999 for $2.9 million. Now, the owners of the massive home are Scherzer and his wife Erica and they plan to tear it down.

According to Front Office Sports, the house is 7,220-square-foot and boasts five bedrooms, four-and-a-half-bathroom, and 325 feet of waterfront space. It can also comfortably dock a yacht.

This community’s residents can also enjoy the luxuries provided by the Admirals Cove Premier Club if they join. The facilities include a golf course, yacht club, tennis center, several restaurants, and a marina.

What other famous names live in Jupiter’s Admirals Cove?

The baseball couple owns a $9.8 million house right across the street in Jupiter’s Admirals Cove gated community. The Scherzers also bought a property for $5.4 million in Long Island last year. Given the current team the pitcher plays for, that purchase certainly made sense.
