Ever since the return from his injury, Aaron Judge is a totally different player. The New York Yankees captain has taken his batting to a whole other level. Considering his impeccable form, most recently, the Pinstripes honored Judge with a Derek Jeter nickname, as he helped the Bronx Bombers win a close game.

The Yankees’ fortunes have truly changed since Judge returned from injury. They went from a disaster of a team to slowly climbing back to the top of the AL East. This most recent performance from Judge had fans divided as he was given a Jeter nickname.

Aaron Judge is called ‘Captain Clutch’ after a massive game-tying hit

The Yankees recently beat the Baltimore Orioles in a close 6-5 10th-inning game. Aaron Judge came up with a game-tying home run in the 9th inning. This allowed the Bombers to come back in the 10th and win it. The Yankees shared an Instagram Post calling Judge ‘Captain Clutch’ a name synonymous with Derek Jeter. Despite the fantastic performance, fans were divided over him being called this nickname. 

In the Instagram Post, the Yankees said, “Captain Clutch.” They shared multiple angles of the game-changing hit and pictures from different poses. This was a truly clutch performance from the Yankees’ captain. But the reactions to the nickname have been mixed.

Some fans were happy about the performance. They said, “Name your teams best player.. Judge is better”, “He’s the best baseball player on the planet no questions asked”, and “Judge is going to be a HOF,no doubt 🔥🔥”.

Other fans expressed hesitation at Judge being called ‘Captain Clutch’. They said, “Easy with that terminology I’m not ready.”, “Derek Jeter was “Captain Clutch”. Can we all agree to call him “Captain Crush”???”, and “Captain Clutch =Jeter. Judge deservedly could carry the moniker but, doesnt he deserve an original one? Like….Captain CRUNCH?”

Beating the Orioles in the first game of the series is massive. The Yankees will be looking to crush their AL East rivals and climb further up the division. It was a rough start to the season, but the Bombers have persevered and fought back. At the center of it is their team captain Judge, who has been great since returning from injury. 

Judge won AL Player of the Week

Aaron Judge won AL Player of the Week for his fantastic displays last week. The Yankees’  captain dominated during that period. He hit 5 home runs and went 11 for 22 in 6 games last week. He seems to still be in great form as this week has started off with a bang for the star outfielder. It will be interesting to see how long this form will continue for Judge, who shows no intention of slowing down anytime soon.
