Aaron Judge is a special player for the New York Yankees. Over the years, he has established himself as one of the best MLB players. Furthermore, he’s become the centerpiece of a Yankees team that was struggling to find an identity after Derek Jeter retired. Notably, Judge was recently named the Yankee’s newest team captain as well.

And this came shortly after he signed a new long-term contract with the team and has seemed inevitable for years. Judge has been taking his captaincy very seriously and recently showed some of his leadership qualities.

Aaron Judge spent some time with the New York Yankees’ young prospects

Aaron Judge is one to take on any responsibility seriously. He recently made that very clear as he performed some of his duties as a captain. Judge was seen interacting with some of the New York Yankees’ young prospects. John Brophy of Pinstriped Prospects shared photos via Twitter and confirmed the news. He stated that Judge had spent time with pitching prospect Luis Serna and catcher and designated hitter Agustin Ramirez.

In the Tweet, Brophy said, “The Captain was making more rounds with some minor leaguers today (photos via their respective IGs). He’s the only Yankees Major Leaguer I’ve seen photos of with some of the prospects. 1st photo w/ RHP Luis Serna; 2nd photo w/ C/DH Agustin Ramírez.” It’s not surprising that Judge is taking the time to mentor and interact with some young and talented prospects.

Furthermore, this is not the first time he’s done it. Judge was seen interacting with Yankees prospects last month as well. He wants to have a positive impact on the youngsters he interacts with. the Yankees slugger will also want to leave behind a mark of his captaincy, but he has a lot of time to do that.

The Yankees signed Judge to a 9-year deal this off season

Following a fantastic 2022 season, Aaron Judge became a free agent. There was a lot of competition for his signature, but the New York Yankees won the race. According to MLB.com’s Bryan Hoch, “Judge agreed to a nine-year, $360 million contract” with the Yankees.

This is the largest deal in the franchise’s history and will probably ensure that Judge retires in pinstripes. After he signed the contract, the team announced him as the new captain.
