Most recently, depressed Yankees fans took the chance to criticize the current ownership while celebrating the late owner George Steinbrenner’s birthday.

New York Yankees celebrate George Steinbrenner’s birthday

George Steinbrenner bought the Yankees in 1973 and transformed the team. Under his ownership, the team won 6 World Series titles before he stepped down and his son Hal Steinbrenner took over. Most recently, the Yanks celebrated George’s 93rd birthday, 13 years after his tragic passing. The team’s official Twitter account shared a touching post to celebrate ‘The Boss’. They even shared pictures from a few of his biggest moments. 

In a Tweet, the Yankees said, “Today we celebrate and remember The Boss 💙”. More than a decade after his passing, George’s profound presence and winning mentality is missed. Furthermore, amidst a World Series drought and some poor playoff showings, fans are upset with his son.
