With his newest foray into social media, he has created his Twitter account. And while his activity has yet to peak, a video of him reacting to fans’ responses on the micro-blogging site has left fans clamoring for more from ‘The Captain’. For some fans, even more than others.

Derek Jeter has always been a fan favorite at the Bronx. With a solid record at Yankee Stadium, Jeter was not only one of the Yankees’ most assured shortstops but also one of their most decorated. Having won 5 championships at the Bronx and retired as a career Yankee, it is but natural for fans to adore the iconic #2. However, one young fan may have just pushed the envelope, and Jeter’s wit just did not quit.

Derek Jeter is the freshest MLB entrant to the world of Twitter. With the star announcing his account, fans gave him a warm welcome. And a welcome video would not be complete without a few comments on the site that make you do a double-take. One of them included a comment from a user who wrote, “I was really 12 years old madly in love with Derek Jeter.”

Looking to the camera with a wry smile, Jeter responded as he always has. Cool, calm, and collected. Asked Jeter, “How old are you now Katy?”

Jeter’s signature humor shined through even oh his first appearance on Twitter. Even if only to cement his status as a fan favorite.
The video also features several other instances of Jeter reacting to other fans and their favorite moments with him on the diamond. These include instances of Jeter walking out to specific tracks at Yankee Stadium and his appearances in some movies, too.
Fans will be getting hyped for his documentary that is soon to be aired on ESPN titled ‘the Captain’. And perhaps this is exactly the social media push that he needed.
