The New York Yankees are finally revving up their engines this offseason. First, the announcement of the Alex Verdugo trade made shocking headlines. The lefty outfielder’s inclusion signaled that the Juan Soto trade talks would have to be changed. In yet another about-turn, the Yankees have once again returned to the table. They have intensified their pursuit of the Dominican slugger. How different will things be this time around?

The last time they sat at the table, things didn’t go according to plan. The San Diego Padres made demands that were a little too high for the Bronx Bombers. Are the Pinstripes willing to compromise, or do they have another card up their sleeves?

Insider says Yankees could be willing to part ways with prospects for Juan Soto

It is no surprise that the Bombers have agreed to return to the table. After all, it is a deal that both teams desperately need. While the Yankees were clear that they do not want to part ways with Jasson Dominguez and Anthony Volpe, it seems they may have loosened their stance on their other prospects.

As Jack Curry of YES Network said, the Yankees have not only re-entered the race but have intensified their pursuit of Soto. “The Yankees intensified efforts to acquire Soto. Those talks have continued and a trade is likely. Keep an eye on King and Thorpe. Padres need pitchers and those two could headline a trade. Would think Yankees will part with 4 or 5 players.”

The main reason for the talks to stall was the Pads demanding Michael King, Drew Thorpe, and several more promising prospects. The Yankees found it preposterous but it seems like they have realized the need to compromise.

This will be a bittersweet moment for the Bronx squad, gaining an almost sure-shot future Hall of Famer Soto in Pinstripes. But his free agency next season might be troubling. Meanwhile, how will the Yankees look if they sign Soto?

The outfield issue of the Bombers

Cashman said that he needs two lefty outfielders and he might have them soon. With Verdugo’s entrance, Soto is all that’s left. But it will give a positioning problem to the Yankees.

Verdugo’s best days were in the right field, where Aaron Judge currently plays. He can go to left but Soto will be playing there. Even though Verdugo has experience with center field, he has never excelled there. What a big headache for the manager.

Still, to have an abundance of great players is a good kind of problem to have.
