Derek Jeter set elite standards and created a benchmark for greatness as a baseball player. But his extraordinary antics did not remain restricted to the ballparks only. Long back in 2011, he built a grand mansion in the Davis Islands’ region of Tampa Bay, Florida. And later, in 2020, Jeter listed the mansion for sale at a whopping price that set a record in that region

Interestingly, it was also the same year that NFL legend Tom Brady joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Leaving behind the New England Patriots, the NFL icon had to step out of the region. So, switching bases for obvious reasons, he shifted down to Florida with his family. And Jeter, who had already moved out of his royal mansion by then, rented it out to Brady

The colossal price Derek Jeter attached to his mansion

The $220 million man Jeter packed up with his family and moved to South Florida in 2020. So he contacted the Smith & Associates Real Estate agency to put up the Tampa Bay place for sale. Jeter initially attached a heavy tag price of $29 million to the entire property. The price had then set a record for the most expensive asking price for any property ever in that region.

Brady lived in the mansion with his family for the first season with the Buccaneers. But he moved out of the place in 2021. It was then that the property got sold for $22 million. Though Jeter did not receive his demanded price, it still was one of the costliest property sales in the regional records.

Nicknamed, St. Jetersburg, the 21,796-square-foot waterfront mansion was built on a 1.2 acres plot. The place has got 345 feet of open bay space. According to a Tampa Bay Times report, the property also boasts 90,000 square feet of covered porches and balconies. Some highlights include seven bedrooms, 16 bathrooms, an air-conditioned garage, and a heated spa. Additionally, there is also a gym, a movie theater, and a wine cellar among other luxuries.

However, all of Jeter’s efforts will now get reduced to rubble and dust. The property that Jeter built is in a flood-prone region. Therefore, the next house that gets set up in that place will follow flood elevation guidelines. So the new mansion will now have to be four-six feet higher than what Jeter amassed earlier.

A sigh of relief for the neighbors

According to a report by 10 Tampa Bay, the region around the property once remained crowded by Jeter and Brady fans. One neighbor named Bryan Truex told the reporters, “They used to park in my driveway to come down to his house.” While another neighbor named Becky Franks said, “It’s such a shame to have to tear down such a gorgeous, prestigious, you know, wonderful, famous place.”
