“Let’s F**king Go!”: Chicago Cubs Excite Fans by Offering a Juicy $35 Million Extension to One of Their Top Stars

Baseball is returning with a blast. With the opening day being only a couple of days away, starting on March 30, all 30 teams of both the National and American leagues will clash against each other to win the ultimate Fall Classic. And now, even before the season start, National League’s Chicago Cubs has already begun to excite their fans with a juicy $35 million offer to one of their top brass.
Most recently, the Cubs’ Twitter handle posted an update on extending the contract of one of their basemen, delaying the star player’s free agency by a couple of years.

The Cubs, via their official Twitter account, announced that they and their second baseman, Nico Hoerner, have agreed on a three-year, $35 million contract extension. This might be a small contract extension, but it still keeps the star in the team. The deal buys out one year of free agency, but the player will still enter free agency in 2029.

Hoerner had a great season in 2022 by appearing in 135 games. Out of those 135, he played 133 as a shortstop and finished second in the National League in Outs Above Average. During this time, he made a 517 plate appearance while slashing .281/.327/.410 with 22 doubles, ten homers, and 55 RBIs.
Second baseman Nico Hoerner and the Chicago Cubs are in agreement on a three-year, $35 million contract extension, sources tell ESPN. Deal buys out one year of free agency, but Hoerner still will hit the market at 29. Final two arbitration years priced ~$15M and FA year at ~$20M.

Needless to say, he is an amazing and important player for the Chicago Cubs. And thus, the team knew better than to let their star player go.
The Cubs became successful in energizing their fans
Fans are amazed and happy with their team’s decision to extend the contract of Hoerner. The second baseman, Hoerner, made his MLB debut in 2019. And he has since emerged as a rather successful player for their team. With his help, the team, in their building year with the new general manager, finished third in their division during MLB’s 2022 season.
