Miss Teen USA 1998, Vanessa Minnillo once dated the Yankees legend Derek Jeter for a brief time and then went on to find her future husband. The Filipino-American model and the shortstop started dating in 2003. Their relationship, however, was an on-and-off one for three years before they finally went on their separate ways.

Soon after the relationship with the baseball player, Vanessa found her now husband and became Vanessa Lachey after a couple of years. 

How did Vanessa meet her husband?

Vanessa met her future husband for the first time on the set of ‘Total Request Live’ in 2003. Though at the time, the model was in a relationship with the shortstop and working as a host at TRL. 

Her future husband, Nick Lachey, was also married at the time to his first wife, Jessica Simpson. In 2005, the couple publicly announced their split to the media. Another year after that, in 2006 (after Jeter and Vanessa had reportedly split), Vanessa featured in one of Nick’s videos. That moment, according to Vanessa, was the one that changed everything between them. She said, “That’s what made it no longer friends and it got romantic.”

They started dating soon after and announced their relationship to the public on January 1, 2007, by sharing an on-screen kiss. However, they did break up in 2009 for a few months but then got back together soon after. Eventually got engaged, then married, and then became parents of a daughter and two sons.

Derek and Vanessa dated from 2003 to 2006, and also it was an on-and-off relationship.

Both of them never spoke up about their relationship when they were dating, and neither about the reason for breaking up.
