After nearly 12 years in MLB, Josh Reddick has reached the end of his professional journey. After arriving in Australia for the final chapter of his sports career, he now has finally announced his retirement. Reddick was part of the Houston Astros team that won the 2017 World Series, but their victory was marred by a cheating scandal.

Every Astro player was under the scrutiny of the baseball community after that, and not all fans were happy with the athlete, especially those of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Reddick, however, as he bid farewell to his career, has also acknowledged the Dodgers in his retirement message, despite their rocky relationship. Let’s take a deeper look!

Houston Astros outfielder bids farewell to his former teams

The 2017 Houston Astros made headlines for all the wrong reasons, thanks to their sign-stealing scandal that helped them secure the World Series. Among those who were ridiculed for their actions was Josh Reddick, a former Dodgers player who was traded to the Astros just a year before their infamous cheating tactics were exposed. It’s not a question that his relationship with the Dodgers fans after that wasn’t exactly rosy. 

However, now that he is leaving the game, the athlete in his recent Instagram post announcing his retirement bid farewell to his former teams. He expressed his gratitude to the Dodgers, “Thank you to the Los Angeles Dodgers for selecting me to experience such a historic franchise and stadium, as well as the playoff experience again. The run we made in 2016 was special. I know we don’t get along nowadays, but I am grateful for my time spent in Dodger blue.”

The former athlete then turned his attention to the Astros, “To the Houston Astros, I am so thankful for you believing in me to sign me as a free agent and to have the chance to be a part of some teams that will be forever enshrined in baseball history. Winning a world series will always top my list of career moments.” Seems like he will always cherish the memories he made on the field!

Fans on Twitter had mixed reactions to Josh Reddick’s retirement announcement. While some expressed indifference, there were some who did care that he was leaving.
