The world yells “Kobe” after making a shot but what to say when one misses it? Well, Alex Rodriguez has just exhibited that in his latest social media post. As the world knows, the New York Yankees legend and the Minnesota Timberwolves owner is currently in Paris. Though he is there to experience the Olympic glory, the superstar also wanted to celebrate a birthday as well. But more than that, he wanted to experience something that he wished.

It isn’t unknown that Rodriguez grew up a Michael Jordan fan. Though baseball was his first love, A-Rod has always had a soft spot for basketball. That was one of the reasons why he decided to buy the Timberwolves. In a recent tongue-in-cheek reference to his basketball love, Rodriguez posted a video on Instagram that showed just how not good he is in the sport.

“Sad to announce unfortunately I was not selected for the 2024 Olympic basketball team,” read Rodriguez’s hilarious video. It showed the superstar trying to make a basket but failing miserably. However, in his trademark style, A-Rod wanted to stay hopeful so he made a joke about possibly making it to the Olympics team in 2028. Wouldn’t that be a sight?

Naturally, the fans took it in a stride by calling him “Air Rod” among other things. However, the video once again showed just how deep the love for basketball runs within Rodriguez. As a result, his mere presence in the arena has led to fans scrambling for a picture with the star. So, unsurprisingly, A-Rod’s Paris trip has already given a few memorable moments.

Alex Rodriguez’s Paris trip creates a fan frenzy

Immediately after landing in Paris, Alex Rodriguez’s first stop was to meet his Timberwolves player Anthony Edwards. The NBA star was celebrating his birthday and A-Rod wanted to be the first one to wish him. However, after that meeting, Rodriguez began his Olympics journey and the first person he met was Dawn Staley. While A-Rod was full of respect for her, Staley was starstruck. It was visible from her Instagram account which was captioned, “Lightning strikes twice!”

Staley is the head coach of the South Carolina Gamecocks women’s basketball team. Rodriguez called her “legendary” in his Instagram story. The two had a brief meeting at a restaurant and later Staley also met NFL legend Tom Brady. Apart from this, Alex Rodriguez’s Instagram account is filled with stories of him meeting fans and them asking for a selfie with him. So, even in Paris, A-Rod’s fame continues to run wild.

But sadly, all of this happened outside of the court; perhaps in 2028, Alex Rodriguez will get a chance to get inside. Maybe, he can finally learn how to score a basket till then. But if he doesn’t, the fans will continue to shower him with love wherever he goes. What do you make of Rodriguez’s love for basketball? Share in the comments below.
