Baseball memorabilia and accessories are extremely popular, involving the top MLB players from all over the world. Throughout his career, and continuing to this day, Derek Jeter remains an immensely popular athlete, both in the past and present. Be it his trading cards, jerseys, and other items. But most recently, a fraud operation based around Jeter’s memorabilia was discovered and actively shut down.
The baseball world was left in shock at the development as the Yankee legend’s popularity was misused. Furthermore, the fraud deal may have raked in as much as $169,500 under the right circumstances.

Police confiscated 113 fake Derek Jeter championship rings
Derek Jeter won 5 World Series championships during his career, with his 2009 victory being the most recent. In a bid to capitalize on that championship, people tried selling fake championship rings. Most recently, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Chicago Field Office seized 113 fake rings. If real, they would be worth a whopping $169,500. According to Fox 59, “The shipment was headed from China to New York and intercepted at the FedEx facility Tuesday night.” The field office shared pictures of the seized rings on Twitter while sharing the news.

In a Tweet, they said, “How much are you willing to pay for a 2009 Derek Jeter World Series ring? Last night CBP officers in Indianapolis seized a shipment of Yankee championship rings. The rings violated MLB’s trademark and were seized. The MSRP for these 113 rings was $169,500, if they were real.”

Memorabilia and collectibles form a massive market, with trading cards being a large part of it. Jeter himself has ventured into the trading card industry. But earlier this year, a fan sold a real piece of memorabilia from the legendary shortstop’s career. The deal earned him thousands of dollars.

Derek Jeter’s collectibles rank among the most sought-after in the realm of baseball. Earlier this year, a fan shared that a ticket sub from the Yankees Legends debut sold for $4,101 on eBay. Although Jeter went 0-5 in his first MLB appearance, it is an iconic moment. It was the moment that the legendary shortstop played his first MLB minutes on the road to a long and prosperous career.
