“We don’t want to lose him.” Those were the words of Phillies’ President of Baseball Operations, Dave Dombrowski. Well, he is not the only one. The Phillies Phanatics feel the same way. In the last game against the Yankees, the fans made it very clear to the slugger himself.

Three die-hard Phillies fans created a memory that will last forever. They caught a huge home run at Yankee Stadium, only to find out after the game that it was the hitter’s 1,000th career hit. He had famously promised a third signed baseball and gave away two, but the fans didn’t seem to care about his autograph. Instead, they asked him for something else.

It’s Kyle Schwarber of the Phillies at the center of the discussion. In the postgame media interaction, Schwarber shared what that third fan wanted: “him to re-sign with the Phillies.” The line was said with all the passion and humor you’d expect from a Philly fan.

After the game, Schwarber reflected on that time with the fans, saying, “It’s been fantastic these last three‑and‑a‑half years, four years now, the support that we get from our fans. Means a lot to me that they attach themselves onto our team, myself, whatever it is. We can feel that support, always appreciate it.”

The timing of that fan’s plea couldn’t have been better. Why? Because of Schwarber’s contract situation. He signed a four-year, $79 million deal in March 2022, and this is the final year. Talks about an extension began early this season, but there’s still no extension news. The Phillies’ owners, manager Rob Thomson, along with teammates, especially Bryce Harper, have all said they want him back. Harper even said, “I don’t want him to go anywhere else.”

Echoing the same emotions, Rob Thompson is also on the same page. “I’ve said it all along: I don’t know where we’d be without him. He comes up with big hit after big hit after big hit. It’s amazing,” he said, praising Schwarber.

His performance with the Phillies has been nothing short of spectacular. In 2025, he has a slash line of around .255/.380/.580, with rising RBI totals. With an OPS of .960, this is one of his best seasons yet. He has improved his contact percentage and adopted a more disciplined approach at the plate. And how can we forget his All-Star Game 2025 performance?

He smashed three home runs in a memorable swing-off tiebreaker to win the All-Star Game MVP award, which is a tribute to his clutch pedigree that helped the NL win that night. The question now is whether Philadelphia can keep him in the long term. They need to decide soon, because the way he is hitting, every club would love to have him, and his performance against the Yankees was a good one!

What’s your perspective on:

Should the Phillies break the bank to keep Kyle Schwarber, or is it time to move on?

Kyle Schwarber shakes the Bronx: Milestone blast seals Phillies’ 12-5 win

The Phillies beat the Yankees 12-5, and Kyle Schwarber had a performance that lit up the diamond. He hit a massive two-run home run in the fifth inning, which was his 1,000th career hit. Schwarber then launched another two-run home run in the eighth inning to extend the lead and cap a great night. With several home runs in this game, Schwarber’s season total reached 36, just one short of the NL lead.

Beyond those numbers, it’s his clutch factor that makes him irreplaceable. This season, he has been quite consistent. Schwarber has hit 36 home runs, making it his fourth straight season with at least 35 home runs in Philadelphia. Eleven of those home runs left the bat at more than 110 mph, making him one of the league’s best power hitters.

“He’s been an incredible force all season long,” J.T. Realmuto said, showing just how important Schwarber is to this team. He smiled broadly after reaching the milestone. He said, “It’s just a joy to play the game,” showing how much he still loves and appreciates baseball.

With numbers like these and a night like that, it’s clear that he is both a fan favorite and a key player in the Phillies’ quest for October baseball. Will that fan’s request be heard?
