From a hospital room in Idaho, a little girl blew up the internet with an adorable TikTok. Shared by her mother, Darleigh Smith, the 3-year-old was seen watching a Phillies game from her hospital bed. Who would have thought that a video caught on whim would go viral and land on the radar of the Philadelphia Phillies? Yet, beating all the odds, the video found its way straight to her beloved team.
Just a few days earlier, the Smith family received life-altering news. Their little daughter Frankie had been diagnosed with a rare kind of cancer. The family wasn’t prepared for it. “It’s been shattering our world,” her mom said. They have been navigating through this tough phase and all this while, Frankie’s constant companion has been her beloved baseball. Ever since she has been admitted, she has watched every single game.
And here’s where it gets even more beautiful. The Smiths live in Idaho, yet they have immense love for Philadelphia and the Phillies. It all goes to Darleigh’s wife, Dani, who hails from Philadelphia. Darleigh remarked, “We watch every game. We look forward to the baseball season every year.”

Frankie is undergoing surgery on Wednesday, but she’s not going to miss the baseball game on Tuesday. Darleigh further added, “It’s kind of something that keeps her whole family together, because we all live across the country now.”
Darleigh posted Frankie’s TikTok video on Monday, where she was enjoying a weekend game, and it certainly didn’t take much time for the video to reach the Phillies itself.
Turns out, the Fightins are helping Frankie to fight her battle with cancer. The Phillies reached out to the family on Tuesday and asked them if Phanatic could send some goodies for Frankie. “It was the most exciting thing I think either of us has ever experienced,” Darleigh expressed. They received it more than 2,400 miles away. It was the “most overwhelming” experience of their lives.

The Phillies’ Love for Their Fans Runs Deep
It was heartwarming to see how the Phillies stepped in to bring some sense of joy for the 3-year-old Frankie, who is bravely battling cancer in Idaho. Another unforgettable fan moment occurred last month when a 12-year-old Phillies fan named Princeton Bailey was spotted at a Phillies-Nationals game at Citizens Park. It all started in the stands and ended on the field.

Princeton was in the crowd imitating the pitching style of Jose Alvarado, the Phillies’ star pitcher. It quickly gained traction from fans, and Alvarado himself watched the clip as well. “It was something amazing and really surprising to see that little kid just doing like I was during the game,” he stated. And guess what? Alvarado invited Princeton back to the stadium with his family just a few days later.
This time, he wasn’t a visitor; Alvarado invited him to the pitching mound to meet the fan in person. Princeton’s grandfather, Troy Bailey, expressed his grandson’s love for learning from players he sees on television.
In fact, Alvarado even gifted Princeton a signed jersey, hat, and baseball. And he wrote a message too—“Thank you for your support.” He told Princeton to always follow his dreams and never give up.
