There was always something special about Derek Jeter–The Captain. Since the shortstop made his debut in 1995, his journey to greatness was written. As time passed, he won one World Championship after another, before he was officially appointed as the Yankees captain. But long before that, Jeter was already a leader, and his biggest skill was his ability to understand and manage people.
A similar incident with co-infielder Scott Brosius was narrated by Jack Curry, in his book called “The 1998 Yankees: The Inside Story of the Greatest Baseball Team Ever,” where Jeter recounted a game he played with third baseman Brosius, who eventually won the World Series MVP award in 1998, carrying Jeter to his second World Championship.

What game did Derek Jeter play with Scott Brosius and always won?
In the book, Jeter starts by speaking about the different personalities in the clubhouse, before moving on to explain a game he played with Scott Brosius, and always managed to win: “There are different personalities and different people in a clubhouse. With some guys, you can yell and scream at them. With some guys, you got to give them hugs.”
Derek Jeter: “Please write that in the book. I would dominate Scott Brosius in Connect 4.”

Jeter continued to add, “But you’ve got to know who you are leading. I always prided myself in getting to know my teammates. It doesn’t necessarily mean you have to go to dinner with them every night, but you need to take the time to know him.”

Then, Jeter moved to talk about playing Connect 4 with Scott Brosius and always managing to win. The eventual five-time Yankees World Champion said, “I would dominate. Please write that in the book. I would dominate Scott Brosius in Connect 4. Other people would try and come in and play, but it was mainly me and Scott. And I would dominate.”
