Baseball fans have been thoroughly entertained by the World Baseball Classic that is currently underway. There have been some shocking results, big performances, and wholesome moments. Furthermore, dreams have come true for many stars as they represented their home nations on the global stage.
Some youngsters have shone brightly, earning them recognition and a chance at an MLB career. Most recently, Nicaragua took on the Dominican Republic in a fairly one-sided affair. But a 21-year-old Nicaraguan sensation broke through and shocked everybody with his pitching display.

The game between Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic ended 6-1 in favor of the Dominican Republic. But Nicaragua pitcher Duque Hebbert has taken the world by storm with his fantastic pitching. He pitched the ninth inning and struck out Rafael Devers, Juan Soto, and Julio Rodriguez. One hour later, the Detroit Tigers signed him to a contract. Jomboy Media shared the news via Twitter.

In a Tweet, Jomboy Media said, “21-year-old Nicaraguan pitcher Duque Hebbert struck out Juan Soto, Julio Rodriguez and Rafael Devers today”. They further added, “So a Tigers scout approached Hebbert and he signed a contract one hour after the game ended 👏”. This is a massive moment for Hebbert as he earns a place in baseball’s biggest league.

The Dominican Republic got off to a rough start at the World Baseball Classic with a loss to Venezuela. But they picked up their first win against Nicaragua and got their title challenge underway. It will be interesting to see how far they go, with the Toronto Blue Jays star Vladimir Guerrero Jr. returning for the second round.
