After yet another thrilling night, Game 2 of the World Series is over. The Arizona Diamondbacks thoroughly and brutally defeated the Texas Rangers 9-1, smashing hits one after another. Had Corey Seager and Adolis García not saved the Rangers in Game 1, the D-Backs may have ended the night similarly. For some reason, despite firing on all cylinders this postseason, Texas is struggling early in the Fall Classic. Is it their less-than-good home form or something else?

After the game, the Rangers’ highest-paid star was asked about what went wrong in the first stretch of a much-awaited match-up. Interestingly, the slugger seemed as befuddled as the fans, but won’t take this beating standing down.

Corey Seager is ready to give it back as good as the Rangers got it

Game 2 of the Series was an uncharacteristic display by the Lone Stars as they desperately struggled in the batter’s box. This is a far cry from their postseason record, which has seen some of the best hitting yet. To make matters worse, the Snakes were on fire at not just the plate but on the mound too. While star shortstop Corey Seager acknowledged Arizona’s power, he’s not ready to let it go easily.

He said, “Yeah they’re good at-bats, competed all night and they got some hits when they needed to..” When asked about what the team will focus on next, Seager just talked about moving on from the defeat and focusing on the next game. “Tonight’s over, we’re gonna regroup, come back, and be ready to play the next game.”

The difference between both of these teams’ hitting was astounding. While the Diamondbacks got 16 hits, the Rangers managed a mere 4. Even Corey Seager, a man in supreme form with a playoff average of  .327 was not able to get a hit. The question that the Rangers must be asking themselves is what changed between the last game and this. One performance of note was the D-Backs Merrill Kelly but can Texas afford to crumble like this?

Another problem is the Rangers’ terrible form at Globe Life Field. Although they are 8-0 in away games, their home record in the postseason now stands at 2-5. The inability to win might become a problem for the team that has the home advantage. Ironically, the edge may actually prove disastrous for the Lone Stars if they cannot win the Chase Field stretch.

What’s next in the World Series

The next 3 games are to be played in the Grand Canyon State, the home of the D-Backs. Unlike the Rangers, the Snakes have a good home record of 3-1. So although Texas is undefeated on the road they might have to hustle hard for a win here. Game 2 might just be an anomaly for the Rangers’ batters as the team’s record in the postseason proves that they are much better than this performance.
