Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez may be one of the most iconic faces in MLB lore, but the thing he is most proud of is something different entirely. The holder of several records in the vaunted books, Rodriguez has pointed out that his focus is now solely on being the best father that he can be. Co-Parenting with his ex-wife Cynthia Scurtis, Rodriguez went the extra mile as he acknowledged Scurtis’ contribution to their kids’ development on Mother’s Day.

As athletes and individuals wished their mothers on the occasion, Rodriguez went a slightly different route. While still relaying his wishes, A-Rod wished Scurtis for being an outstanding role model. A-Rod has also previously stated that his legacy as a player may have been completed, but his post-career is something he would like to spend in his role as a father. And acknowledging your partner’s role in your children’s life surely goes a long way to connecting with the right values.

Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez wishes Cynthia Scurtis on Mother’s Day

Rodriguez took to his personal Instagram account to wish his ex-wife Cynthia Scurtis on the momentous occasion. Posting a story of a picture with his two daughters and Scurtis, A-Rod acknowledged the role that Scurtis had in raising both his daughters.

Wrote A-Rod, “Happy Mother’s Day to Cynthia. Thank you for being a role model to our girls and helping raise them right.”

Scurtis, a gym trainer in the 90s, met Rodriguez in Miami and later married him in 2002. With the star’s big-league transfer to the Bronx, Scurtis too moved to New York with the shortstop. Following their marriage, the couple had two children. With Natasha in 2004 and Ella in 2008, it looked to be lining up.

However, fate had other plans, and the couple split up almost immediately after the birth of their second daughter. However, the two remain committed to raising their children and have since successfully co-parented.

While Rodriguez has had several high-profile relationships since Scurtis too has settled down. Now married to Angel Nicolas, Scurtis has been an active parent. The two reportedly had their relationship turn for the better after they attended a parent-teacher conference at their daughters’ school in 2017.
