The Baltimore Orioles have caught the sports world’s attention for a wrongful employee suspension lately. But after widespread criticism, the ownership went back on their decision and reinstated Kevin Brown as a play-by-play broadcaster. As the O’s maintain first place in AL East, the club also attracted attention for a hilarious fan moment recently.

In addition to the joy of watching one’s favorite team play, a baseball game leaves fans with endless memories. One is when a foul ball or a home run flies into the stands, right in a spectator’s hands. Or as it happened at a recent game, into a fan’s food.

Baltimore Orioles Fan Catches Ball With BBQ

Ball catching with a glove is common, as it is with hands. But imagine sitting in the stands, a glass of beer in one hand and a plate of barbecue in the other. Eyes are fixed on the game when suddenly, the batter hits a long ball and it’s aimed straight at the food in one’s hand.

Some would drop everything to catch the ball, others would duck to avoid getting hit. But one fan was disappointed when he had nothing in his hands and even tried to catch it in his glove, narrowly missing it at the recent O’s vs Houston Astros game. The ball instead landed in a fan’s food sitting just behind him.

It was apparently a plate of barbecue and the ball off of Baltimore first baseman Ryan O?Hearn landed right at the edge of the plate. The man stood up to show it off to the rest of the crowd, making the broadcasters laugh out loud. The fan bends down to pick up his beer can and takes a long sip. Then he sits back down and picks the ball off his plate as the camera shows it drenched in sauce on one side.

Melanie Newman of MASN rightfully dubbed it, ?A barbecue baseball. Not a feature at booths.? She later added, “Let the tray do the work. Who needs a glove?? As Jomboy Media rightfully pointed out, it was probably a top-five fan moment!

MLB Fans Remember the Iconic Father Catch

Back in May, a man holding a baby and a beer at a Dodgers vs Cardinals game went viral on social media. Because not only were his hands already full, but the man managed to catch a foul ball too.

It was an amazing moment and fans reminisced over the catch after this latest wild moment. Some even wanted him to lick the sauce off the ball.

Some also laughed at the way he shows off his tray to the crowd, reminding them of the famous?Gladiator moment, while some wondered whether the O’s gave him a new plate of barbecue.

The moment will probably be remembered by the fan forever! As a bonus, the O’s ended up winning 5-4.
