Most athletes dream of playing on a big stage one day. The crowds chanting their name, cheering loudly. Some get the chance at a young age while some have to give it time. That call to the big league is a much-awaited chance to live out their passion and for most, it’s memorable. Many athletes have unique stories to tell about their careers, from playing with teammates or rivals, or witnessing history being made on a field. Perhaps one of the most important moments of any baseball player’s life is when they make it to Major League Baseball. But one San Francisco Giants player actually missed that first call to MLB in favor of watching the Guardians of the Galaxy!

Casey Schmitt ignored the first call from the San Francisco Giants…

…because he was watching the third installation of the iconic Marvel movie! Casey Schmitt, who recently played his first MLB game, missed the first call that the team manager made to him because he was in the theatre. As cinema policy dictates no cell phones on inside, Schmitt didn’t know his phone rang.

“Yeah so funny story, I was actually uh, I was watching Guardians of the Galaxy. I was in the theatre…I missed the first call. It was unbelievable,” the rookie said recently. “But then our manager in Sacramento called and I saw and went out to answer it. I was during the ending credits, so the movie was already over.”

What’s more, GotG director James Gunn, who also works with Marvel’s nemesis DC, responded to it. He retweeted the post from Jomboy Media with the simple caption, “You have to have priorities.” What a cheeky answer!

Fans are lamenting that Schmitt missed the post-credit scene

Sorry, scenes, plural. If one is an MCU fan, one must know the iconic franchise tradition of post-credit scenes that populate the movies. Sometimes, they serve as teasers for upcoming films and sometimes they have no purpose at all. They’re still enjoyable for most fans, and one was worried that because Schmitt went out to attend a call after the movie was over, he might have missed it.

Some enjoyed watching him recount the story.

Some applauded him for giving the movie the respect that it deserves!

One pointed out how it must have been an amazing night for Schmitt.
