The Aaron Judge injury saga has finally come to a definitive conclusion. But it’s not something fans are happy with. Last week, Judge awkwardly slid into second base at a New York Yankees game and the move looked painful to anyone who saw it. As the captain got up from the ground to walk back, there was visible discomfort in his stride. He chose to finish the game but the next day wasn’t so lucky. Judge had to be removed from the game and then proceeded to miss the next few days due to a hip strain.

While Judge spent time away from the ballpark, the Yankees called up Franchy Cordero to take his place. But after a subpar performance, he was sent to do a Triple-A stint. However, not even two days later, he was called right back to the major leagues. And fans knew something was up.

Aaron Judge is headed to the 10-day injured list

As expected by many, All-Rise will now serve time on the IL and probably get some much-needed rest. The next game that Judge will be eligible for is the series opener against the Oakland Athletics on May 8. Injuries are something that can turn the tide of the season for a team, and Yankees manager Aaron Boone is keeping that in mind.

“We don’t want to put him in a position where he goes out and compromises somewhere else and the injury becomes something else or worse,” he said. “That’s the biggest thing.”
