It is official—Jorge Polanco is hitting the open market. Jon Heyman of the New York Post broke the news that the veteran infielder has turned down his option to stay with the Seattle Mariners.

That deal was initially an $8 million mutual option, but that shifted to a $6 million player option during the season. Either way, Polanco has decided to bet on himself. In another tough blow for Mariners fans, the infielder is now moving on to chase his own personal goals.
