Coming off an incredibly successful campaign in 2022, the Houston Astros played their first game of the season on Opening Day. Considering the immense depth in their roster, they are once again expected to be a favorite to win it all, with many experts already backing them. Many stars came out to support the Astros in their first game of the season. 

Even though the Astros lost the game, their first game was a star-studded affair. From Megan Thee Stallion throwing the ceremonial pitch to Hollywood biggie Mark Wahlberg’s appearance, it was a memorable event altogether for the Astros fans. However, Megan throwing the first pitch did not sit well with several Astros fans.

Megan Thee Stallion appeared at the Houston Astros’ Opening Day game

The Houston Astros made their MLB return with an Opening Day game against the Chicago White Sox. Houston native Megan Thee Stallion was present at the game and even threw the ceremonial first pitch. Fox Sports: MLB shared pictures of her and other stars, such as Mark Wahlberg, at the game via Twitter. 

In the Tweet, Fox Sports: MLB said, “The stars are out tonight in Houston 🤩🤘”. But unfortunately, the star rappers’ presence and first pitch seemed to bring the Astros bad luck. They lost to the White Sox in a close 3-2 contest.

Some fans were dismissive of her and trolled her in the comments.

Other fans were excited to see the female rap star. There were even fans who said they’d started supporting the Astros because of her.

The Astros have gotten off to a rocky start with this loss, especially considering that they are the defending champions. Fans will be disappointed by the Houston-based team’s performance but the season has only just started.

Before Opening Day, experts ranked the Houston Astros among the top teams to win the World Series. This will not have changed much after the loss to the Chicago White Sox. They won the 2022 Fall Classic just a few months ago and their roster has not changed that much. Although the Astros lost Justin Verlander in free agency, they have kept most of their key pieces intact.
