The pandemic ruined their plans for a summer wedding in Italy and then postponed indefinitely. Sometimes, two people who seem perfect for each other are not compatible in the long run. Sometimes, a relationship just has to run its course. The couple didn’t give any conclusive answers about the reason behind their split, but Rodriguez’s cheating rumors were hinted at. They released a statement in March 2021 regarding speculations about the state of their relationship, commenting that they there “working through some things“. However, their efforts at reparation clearly didn’t work out.

PEOPLE magazine revealed in an article that J-Lo lost her trust in A-Rod, and hadn’t been unaware of the rumors about him. A source said, “Whether or not he has cheated doesn’t matter. She won’t tolerate the fear of it in the air between them.”

The lockdowns in 2020 had shown them that they loved spending time together with both their families combined. However, their spark died out at having to see each other every day. Maybe it’s for the best that they didn’t marry after all.

Another source commented on how it was the 53-year-old singer who initiated the breakup, “She insisted on it. There are too many issues that are unresolved.”

The couple’s kids became best friends with each other

One of the hardest parts about adults breaking up is how it will affect the kids. Both Lopez and the former Yankee have two kids. Lopez’s then 13-year-old twins, Max and Emme, and Rodriguez’s kids, Natasha and Ella. Lopez’s friend said, “They’re especially sad for the kids since they are all so close. It’s not a good situation but inevitable.”

Us Weekly reported that the two tried to prolong their split and salvage the relationship in any way possible, just for the kids. The power couple was big on making sure their children got along at first, but it ultimately proved to be futile in the end.
