Remember when the season was about to kick off and everyone was talking about how the Dodgers might even break the Cubs’ record for most wins in a year? Fast forward to now, and instead of cruising at the top, they’re fighting just to hold on to a podium spot in the division.

Sure, losing streaks happen in a 162-game season. But the way the Dodgers have been playing lately, especially in that latest game against the Orioles, has left fans stunned. Notably, Yoshinobu Yamamoto was on the verge of making history with what could’ve been the franchise’s 24th no-hitter. Then, just six batters later, he was out of the game, and the Dodgers blew a 3–0 lead to lose 4–3.
Well, it was a historic meltdown, and now frustrated fans are pointing fingers at the team’s biggest stars, wondering how a supposedly formidable lineup could collapse like that. “The Dodgers were up 3-0 and one out from a no-hitter by Yoshinobu Yamamoto … and they lost,” MLB insider Jeff Passan shared the moment the Orioles pulled off a miracle against the Dodgers.

So, where is the team struggling? First, Shohei Ohtani!

Reportedly, over his last 10 games, he’s hitting just .237 with 9 hits, a homer, and 3 RBIs. Numbers that feel way below his standard. And if that wasn’t enough, Dave Roberts’ decision-making has only added fuel to the fire.
What happened? Treinen faced four batters. All four reached base. Then Tanner Scott came in with the bases loaded, and Rivera delivered a two-run walk-off single. Just like that, the Dodgers lost to a team with a payroll nearly half their size. So, to put it in perspective: as of September 2025, the Dodgers’ luxury tax payroll sits around $405 million, while the Orioles are at about $177 million. That’s a staggering $228 million difference.
Hence, no wonder Dodgers fans are running out of patience.

The Dodgers’ who’s who gets called out by the fans
The Dodgers are currently 3-7 in their last 10 games. And surprisingly, they got swept by the Pirates and are now trailing 0-2 against the Orioles. Yes, the Dodgers got hunted by the basement dwellers, which further forces the fans to question what’s going on. “Dodgers don’t even want to win the NL West. A billion-dollar roster, btw,” a frustrated fan remarked. “Dodgers with an insane choke job,” added another. With a bullpen ERA of 4.22, the Dodgers are surely struggling with closing their games. And that too after acquiring names like Kirby Yates and Tanner Scott in the lineup.
“This is an all-time low. Is this the worst loss in organizational history for the regular season?” One fan remarked. Well, the Dodgers’ 0-5 record in the last 5 games is not enough, but losing a game in the ninth inning after a 3-0 lead is surely something uncommon in MLB. “This has got to be their worst loss during their 13-year run…. right?” More fans are sure about the same.

Now, amid this historic slump, the Dodgers manager may be called out. One fan said, “Way to go, Dave Roberts. Dude is a joke of a manager.” It is surely surprising how Roberts couldn’t hold Yamamoto for the last out, when he was well-settled at the mound. Moreover, he called someone who is standing with a 4.26 ERA and a 0-3 record. Surely Blake Treinen was not the right guy to close the game in that position.
But again, it’s baseball, and it never fails to surprise us.
