A Porche is a Porche! Well, that’s what Shohei Ohtani thinks, gifting a toy Porsche to Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, fulfilling his demand! Yes, as hilarious as it sounds, Ohtani fulfilled the demand of Roberts for having a new car by gifting him a toy car—this is the latest addition to the playful nature of Shohei Ohtani. While this is just a healthy prank by Ohtani, it offers an overview of the team’s culture and how the Dodgers’ prized possession is in a good mood, which might not be good news for the rivals!

The Dodgers are always known for their team culture and bonding, which again got highlighted with this event. With Ohtani seeming very rejuvenated, what can the fans expect from him this year? Well, Shohei Ohtani is better known as a rare two-way playing talent and is currently the global face of MLB. However, apart from that, his playful side can also give people a run for their money. Last year, Ohtani pranked Dave Roberts by gifting him a toy car when the former promised to gift a car to Roberts once he broke the record for most home runs by a Japanese player.

While Roberts had the record of seven home runs during his tenure between 2002 and 2004, Shohei Ohtani broke that in just 34 games last year. “Oh my god. I was like, what is going on? Shohei got me. Shohei’s behind this? Are you freaking kidding me? I said I wanted a car, so he came through,” a rather clueless Roberts said after getting pranked. It all started when Roberts asked for a brand new Porche from Ohtani but didn’t expect he would be delivered with the same so soon, albeit as a toy. While Roberts accepted his defeat this time, he challenged to get on Ohtani.

Shohei Ohtani is all set to make it bigger this year

The Dodgers are already considered the bona fide best team this year. The depth in the rotation and presence of big names are making them second to none. For those unaware, Japanese phenom Roki Sasaki will stay behind Ohtani in the pitching squad! That’s what a deep rotation looks like. After making quite a stir this offseason, the Dodgers had enough flexing their financial muscle and are now all set to get into the action. While it is always a challenge to manage a dressing room with all the big names, the playful side of their staff offers a positive picture.

For Shohei Ohtani, he is still not physically fit to pitch from the opening day, but his recovery is on the expected timeline and will get ready soon. Fans would be able to witness the two-way playing abilities of Shohei Ohtani after a 2-year hiatus. Till then, Ohtani will be a designated hitter for the Dodgers this year. Now that Ohtani is set to fully recover, enough big names are ready to splash for the Dodgers, and with no major injury update other than Clayton Kershaw, the Dodgers fans have all the reason to hope for reclaiming the ring!
