Shohei Ohtani’s latest surprise announcement of marriage has broken the internet. Millions of Shotime fans are spending hours discussing, speculating, and investigating who the “mystery bride” is. While there hasn’t been any confirmation yet, one social media post has been making a lot of noise.  

Famous comedian Yuriyan Retriever posted a picture almost immediately after Ohtani made his marriage public. The picture of her wearing a ring on her ring finger erupted the entire Japanese fanbase of Shotime. The fact that she has previously said in a song that she’ll “marry” Shohei Ohtani also came into the picture. So that gave rise to a major question – is she the one?

While Yuriyan Retriever’s X post spread like wildfire, things took a turn when she held a hastily put-together “emergency Insta-live” session on her social media accounts. She looked visibly emotional and said, “Thank you so much to everyone who supports me. I’m sorry to have to report to you in this way, but…” (via – Tokyo Weekender)

Retriever then held up her left hand, which had a ring on its finger, and said, “I’ve cut my nails!” So was it just a genius troll moment from the comedian? Perhaps it was. But the fans are desperate for information, and luckily for them, Ohtani seems to getting comfortable quite quickly.

The famously private Shohei is slowly making fans a part of his life. Now he has shared a bit more about his wife and how they met.

Shohei Ohtani – The mysterious phenom reveals crucial information

Until now, the only hint we had was that Ohtani’s wife was an “ordinary Japanese person”. He has insisted on that description. However, most recently, Ohtani revealed when he and his wife met. According to the Japan Times, Ohtani shared, “We first met about three or four years ago and we have fun together,” he shared that gradually he could imagine them “being together forever.” When asked why he chose this time to get married, Ohtani said, “I felt it was best to do it now and focus on baseball.”

So Shotime has given some information about his wife, but then the question remains – just who is this lucky lady? The fans have no choice but to wait because if one has learned anything about Ohtani, things are not released until he wants them to. So when will Ohtani share her name? Only the Japanese superstar can answer that question.
