MLB Insider says the decision of Shohei Ohtani is imminent

While there were reports that Ohtani could be making a decision this week, doubts still lingered in the baseball world. Due to a lack of news and any information about his talks, fans needed a way to confirm how accurate those reports were. Jon Morosi seems to have not only confirmed those reports but also given a tremendous timeline for a possible announcement.

Morosi tweeted, Source: Shohei Ohtani’s decision is imminent, possibly as early as today.” That is a tremendous declaration given the current stakes. In only a few hours, the biggest story of baseball may find its conclusion. Ohtani’s secrecy has led to a lot of speculations. Fans even started to find a connection between his pet’s name and his future team.

So far, the teams deemed ahead of everyone else are the Toronto Blue Jays and LA Dodgers. They have far more compelling cases due to geography, ambitions, and good infrastructure, but they’re not the only ones. The MLB world has already seen this story once in 2017. Shotime was linked with the Texas Rangers for the entire offseason but finally chose LA Angels.

Nobody knows what’s going on inside Ohtani’s mind. But the one thing that almost everyone is sure of is that money plays a small role. So some other teams too have a chance to get the 2x MVP.

Chicago Cubs, LA Angels, and other underrated suitors

Even though it seems the Cubs are now focusing on Cody Bellinger, they can still sign the biggest name in baseball, if only because of their deep history and recent upward swing in their position. The Angels are behind in the Shohei Ohtani race due to their lack of postseason but Ohtani did like spending time in Anaheim. Maybe comfort is a bigger factor than many would guess.

The San Francisco Giants and Atlanta Braves are other names. The Giants have the money and ambition but are lacking in form. The Braves are as strong as the Dodgers and have a squad that’s set for the long term.

Fasten your seatbelts. The end is near.
