“So Grateful for Our Tribe”- Derek Jeter’s Sister Sharlee Shows Gratitude to CC Sabathia’s Family on His Daughter’s 17th Birthday

Derek Jeter had a noticeably prosperous and long MLB career that spanned over 20 seasons. As per popular knowledge, he spent his entire MLB tenure playing for the New York Yankees. During his active years on the baseball diamond, he saw many players join and leave the Yankees’ setup. Few of those teammates remained close acquaintances with Jeter, even beyond retirement.
Former Yankees’ pitcher CC Sabathia is among the former teammates that still share a strong bond with Jeter. Not only are they still best allies, but their families also happen to be closely knit. Derek’s sister Sharlee, in particular, is often a common sight hanging around with Sabathia’s family. Recently, Sharlee got noticed among Sabathia’s family yet again, celebrating a special family occasion.

Derek Jeter’s sister acknowledges her love for CC Sabathia’s family
Derek Jeter became a Yankees teammate with CC Sabathia in 2009, a comradeship that has since lived on. Consequently, Sharlee too has formed a deeper bonding with the Sabathia family over the years. Sabathia is a father to four children, namely Carsten Charles the third, Jaden, Cyia, and Carter. Jaden, Sabathia’s daughter, has turned 17 years of age recently and so celebrated her birthday.

Sharlee was among the guests at the birthday feast. She later even posted images of the birthday celebration on her Instagram account. Sharlee wrote in her post quoting, “Had such a great time celebrating the 17th Birthday of Jaden Sabathia with friends and family this past weekend. I am so grateful for our tribe. Bravo on raising such amazing children, Amber Sabathia and CC Sabathia.”

However, this was not the only time that Sharlee was present in the Sabathia family. Back in 2016, Sharlee’s son and Sabathia’s children participated in a social event. Their kids walked on the ramp at the BKLYN Rocks festival in Brooklyn City. Derek and his wife, Hannah, too, were present among the crowd.

Before joining the Yankees, Sabathia played for the Cleveland Guardians (known as Indians back then) and Milwaukee Brewers. Sabathia made his MLB debut with the Guardians in 2001. Interestingly, Derek and Sabathia lifted the World Series together in 2009, apparently the year that Sabathia joined the Yankees. Sabathia also made six MLB All-Star appearances in his career.
Derek Jeter and CC Sabathia: A friendship until eternity
Jeter retired from MLB in 2014, while Sabathia retired in 2019. Nonetheless, maintaining their ties, Sabathia attended Jeter’s Hall Of Fame induction ceremony in 2021. Sabathia also attended the premier release screening of Jeter’s docuseries titled ‘The Captain’. Whereas Jeter was once a guest speaker on Sabathia’s podcast.
