Movie watching is a sacred experience. Whatever the preferred genre, one can tell a lot about a person based on their favorite piece of media. Romance, action, superhero, thriller, indie film – whatever tickles one’s fancy, cinema is always a big deal. If someone was to ask baseball players their favorites, is it really any surprise they picked movies based on their beloved sport? Because that’s what Aaron Judge did.

One possibly underrated genre is sports movies because they can make a person feel the full spectrum of human emotions. Besides the usual personal storyline that changes with every movie, there’s the standard adrenaline of watching a sport come to life. Be it baseball, basketball, football, or anything – the adrenaline-fueled sequence of a team gunning for the win never fails to make for a great experience.

MLB players, including Aaron Judge and Mike Trout, have bizarre movie choices

Is it okay to judge a person based on their likes or dislikes? Maybe not! That is, as long as their favorites don’t have a negative impact on their surrounding. That said, is it okay to judge a grown man admitting their favorite movie is Twilight? Um, maybe!

MLB.com recently asked their star players what their favorites were and most came up with sports movies, like Remember the Titans, Bench Warmers, Rocky, and Dodgeball. And fans had hilarious responses to their answers.

So what did players list as their favorite flick?

There are a lot of great baseball movies to pick from, and Aaron Judge and Mike Trout chose Remember the Titans. Judge is even a fan of The Sandlot as he has worn a shirt inspired by the movie at interviews before. While some fans one hundred percent judged Jazz Chisolm for Twilight, others couldn’t be more delighted. In his defense, it was a defining era for a lot of young people. Even if he probably wasn’t the target audience. But hey, no judgment.

Angels outfielder Brett Phillips went with the classic The Benchwarmers because he feels connected to the characters through his own way of playing. Cardinals outfielder recommends the side-splitting comedy that is Rush Hour 2, while Alex Bregman went with a different sport in Dodgeball.

So all in all, some great choices! But not if you ask the fans!

My tryst with sports was accidental, but what followed was nothing short of a pursuit of excellence. Having penned over 1,500 articles, I've written about and edited pieces on the key figures ES regularly features across sports like MLB, Tennis, and WNBA. Some of my favorite athletes include Shohei Ohtani, Derek Jeter, Roger Federer, Coco Gauff, A'ja Wilson, and Caitlin Clark. From New York to Los Angeles, I've covered articles spanning all 50 states that have been recognized as Editor's Picks on multiple occasions. Other than ball sports, I also occasionally pick up a bow and arrow and engage in friendly archery games. When not covering news of the court or hitting the bull's eye with my arrows, I love to indulge in my love for literature. I agree with what Jane Austen said, “The person, be it gentleman or lady, who has not pleasure in a good novel, must be intolerably stupid.” I also enjoy reading about morally gray characters and talking about them on my bookstagram!
