The New York Yankees may not be having the greatest season in 2023, but it could be the best thing to happen for the franchise. While 2023 could potentially see the franchise break their 30-year streak and end with a losing record, the season has also put ownership in a tough spot. The Bronx demands performance and as a result, commands respect. With their reputation now on the line, the spotlight is on the franchise to start performing.

Baseball requires all contributors to have an equal part in success. Ownership, the players as well as the front office must work in harmony to make sure that the pennant is home by the end of the season. Despite several attempts, the Yankees have had a lack of performance at the top level recently with some part of blame lying in either part. But that may be soon set to change.

While the Yankees may be one of the most respected franchises in the sport’s history, their lack of post-season success in recent years has been staggering. With their last ring coming in 2009, the Yankees are nigh on two decades without any silverware. Obviously representing a problem for a franchise that has traditionally been a high flying and performing baseball entity. However, things finally seem to be looking up for the franchise.

With more and more responsibility emerging from each angle of the franchise, the tide could be set to turn. But most importantly it is the ownership that is taking decisive action even going as far as to potentially take a decision on replacing the underperforming front office. Said Steinbrenner, “We’re going to take a very deep dive into everything we’re doing.

Indicating that things can no longer continue the way they’re going, Steinbrenner was decisive. “We’re looking to bring in possibly an outside company to really take a look at the analytics side of what we do. Baseball operations in general. We’re going to have some very frank conversions with each other. This year was obviously unacceptable,” he added.

The Yankees front office has been underperforming and has come under fire repeatedly and for some, this could be an indication that the GM is set to be ousted.

The Yankees Performances in 2023

It appears that performances on the diamond is not really an area of concern right now. The roster is finally kicking into place. Led by 2022 AL MVP Aaron Judge on offense and ace Gerrit Cole on the mound, the roster boasts some impressive youngsters too. Anthony Volpe at shortstop has been quietly having a great year. The latest promotions of Jasson Dominguez and Austin Wells too are lining up.
